A girl in her late twenties was sitting on the couch, completely drowned in her work. Beside her, a beautiful view of the city was peaking through the glass window. The clicking of laptop keys can be heard in the whole room.

She stretched her arms after clicking the save key.

"Finally, I'm done with my novel. Let's go and treat myself."

She got up from the couch, streching her body. She noticed her surroundings, dark and silent. She shifted her gaze at the wall clock.

"10? It's already 10. Shit! I have already ran out of groceries. I have to get it now."

She ran inside her closet to get changed. She walked out getting changed into fresh clothes.

"Wait- all the grocery stores must have called it a day. Shrishti, you are an idiot! How can you forget to restore your survival ingredients?"

She cursed herself getting frustrated. Shrishti walked back and forth.

"There is a 24/7 groceries store nearby. Shrishti, you are a genius"

(Author: Few seconds ago, someone was cursing herself for being an idiot workaholic brat🙄.

Shrishti: You better shut up!😒)

Shrishti ran out of her apartment locking the door behind being a little bit responsible.

(Author: I repeat, a little bit responsible.....)

Shrishti walked through the streets. There was no one except her. As she walked ahead she felt something odd in the atmosphere around. She felt a presence but couldn't define it's existence.

She shrugged off the negative thoughts from her mind and kept walking till her feet stopped infront of the 24/7 grocery store. She looked around to find everything silent. Empty street and road, not a single person was around. She shook her head.

"Let's get the things quickly, I'm hungry"

Shrishti whispered herself walking inside the store. She walked around collecting the essentials. She was looking for her favourite snacks.

"Shrishti!"

A voice hit her ear, sending chills down her spine. Her throat dried, body rooted to the spot. Then-

"Look at your face!"

Shrishti frowned as a loud giggle hit her ears. She turned to find a girl laughing her ass off.

"Tanvi?", Shrishti said looking at the girl.

"Bwahahahaha! Look at you girl. It's so hilarious", Tanvi said trying to hold her laughter.

Shrishti fear got replaced by frustration. "Bitch, how dare you laugh at me after almost taking my soul out!"

"Like I'm doing right now bish", Tanvi said. "Shameless!", Shrishti huffed crossing her arms.

"I can be way more shameless darling, just come to my place", Tanvi said wiggling her eyebrows.

"Just get yourself a boyfriend bish. I'm straight", Shrishti said and walked away with her things.

"Hey! Wait for me!", Tanvi ran behind Shrishti with snacks. Both walked out after paying.

"What are you doing here?", Shrishti asked. Tanvi looked at her before answering, "I was going to meet you but I saw you going to the store. So-"

"Don't tell me, you were following me from the start.", Shrishti glared at her. Tanvi frowned before replying," Girl, I just saw you near the store and came behind you. Look, my car is parked there." Tanvi pointed at her car. Shrishti followed her hand and found the car parked near the store.

"Let's go and watch some movies, babe." Tanvi said dragging Shrishti towards her car.

"Shrishti!"

A husky voice echoed in Shrishti's ear. She turned to find nothing. She looked at Tanvi who was looking unbothered. Shrishti shrugged off the thought and sat inside the car.

"Shrishti!"

The manly voice again echoed through Shrishti's ear. She looked around to find no one except Tanvi. She hit Tanvi's arm.

"Why are you calling my name in a manly voice, huh?", Shrishti asked only to get a confused expression by Tanvi.

"Are you high on something or you are so into your novel writing that you are hearing voices?", Tanvi said.

Shrishti furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"I know you have been stressing about publishing the next sequel of you novel but you have to be careful about your health too", Tanvi said being concerned.

"If you got mentally unstable while writing novels, how will I become the coolest aunty then?", She added with a pout.

Shrishti hit her arm,"Bitch! You will never change." Tanvi burst into laughter. Shrishti smiled but deep down something was bothering her. Maybe that presence she felt on her way to the Grocery store or that voice. During the whole ride, Shrishti was lost in her thoughts while her bestie was yapping.

"And you know what?" Tanvi noticed Shrishti. She shook her gently. "Back to earth, girl", Tanvi said. Shrishti shook her head and smiled. "A real boy or your fictional novel boy?", Tanvi raised an eyebrow.

Shrishti rolled her eyes, "Focus on the road, idiot!". Tanvi scoffed, "We are here from past 5 mins, girl". Shrishti looked out of the window to find the car parked near her apartment.

Both got down from the car, taking out the bags from the backseat. Tanvi bumped her hip on Shrishti's. "Hey!", Shrishti said. Tanvi ran inside the building, leaving her behind. Shrishti sighed, shaking her head she was about to take a step.

"Shrishti, you are mine!"

Chill ran through her whole body by that deep husky voice. She felt a presence right behind her. Something undefined, something unexplainable. Shrishti closed her eyes and took a deep breath, before walking inside without looking back.

(Author: I know, I know my character is way to smarter than half of the characters of Hollywood movies😤)

Shrishti walked in to find Tanvi waiting for her in the elevator. She quickly rushed to Tanvi. As the door closed behind, Shrishti exhaled the air she has been holding from last few minutes.

"What happened to my darling? Are you scared baby?" Tanvi said wiggling her eyebrows. Shrishti took a deep breath again before answering her bestie. "Let's go, I really need some rest". The door of elevator opened with a ding.

Both walked inside the apartment closing the door behind. Tanvi ran inside the room to freshen up while Shrishti got busy in arranging the groceries. She went inside the other room to freshen up.

Shrishti walked out to find Tanvi all set with dinner. "You prepared it?", She asked in amusement. "What do you think?", Tanvi said proudly. Shrishti took her seat with Tanvi only to notice some packets inside the dustbin.

"I knew it!", Shrishti said being done with her bestie. Tanvi looked at her being confused. She followed her gaze to realise she got caught. "Yep! I ordered it", she accepted. Shrishti shook her head and continued her dinner.

After the dinner, they both settled inside living room with blanket and pillows. Shrishti sat on the left, Tanvi on the right. They started a rom-com movie. Unbeknownst sleep caught their eyes taking them to the dreamland.

Shrishti opened her eyes to find herself on the couch. She looked at Tanvi who was sleeping comfortably on couch peacefully. She tucked her blanket properly and walked to kitchen as she was thirsty. She opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle.

Gulping down the water, she walked back to living room. Her feet rooted on the spot as a voice echoed through the corridor.

"Shrishti!"

The same manly voice, the same presence. Her throat dried, she shook her head and took a step ahead but got pulled by a force. She closed her eyes tightly only to feel something hard against her chest, a pair muscular arm around her waist. Perhaps, a man.

As soon as she opened her eyes, it met a pair of dark brown orbs. She felt herself getting lost into those eyes. She blinked her eyes to get a proper look of the face of the man but she couldn't see his face. He leaned in near her ear.

"You are mine, darling. Keep that in your mind", he said pecking her forehead.

The man locked eyes with hers. Slowly his brown orbs turned into blood red making Shrishti's eyes go wide.......
